2009-06-12 08:32:36   Hey, Brad — you don't need to Address() the city and state... the wiki knows where it is located (and most readers probably know as well), so just wrapping the macro around the street address is enough. —JabberWokky

2009-06-12 09:16:21   Nope, there's no interwiki include yet (not Sycamore to Sycamore, at any rate). I actually mentioned the Address() in particular because of the fact that I know RocWiki uses a different one so I figured I'd mention it. As an aside, I hear bits and pieces about an entirely new map system for Sycamore being written at the speed of free time.

Also, I ask that you not reply on a particular wiki unless it relates to that community... with gnomeGnome being a catchall. Feel free to create a User Entry for me on this wiki if it relates to this community so that other interested editors can see it on the Recent Changes and jump in. —Evan 'JabberWokky' Edwards, (814) 889-8845

2009-06-13 00:10:46   Not having interwiki includes was a design decision that we made a way long time ago before wiki spot was launched. We thought that wikis should be somewhat separate communities, and this blurs the line between them too much. That said, this isn't set in stone: if you can come up with a good reason to convince us to add in interwiki includes, go for it.

The address macro is probably going to keep forking away from the version on RocWiki. Between adding a tagging system and supporting all of the legacy formats for addresses, it would probably be difficult to add a different display text with a simple syntax. Something more complicated like [[address("123 Sesame", 38.005, -121.65, "tag", display="Sesame Street!")]] might be workable... let me think it over a bit. (Telling all of these arguments apart is the hard part.) But when we're done, we should have a nice OpenStreetMap implementation in OpenLayers.

My best advice for a workaround for now is to geocode these points by hand; with given lat/lon coordinates, [[address]] just treats the address like display text. —BrentLaabs
